Review: Before the Mission Begins by Christi Snow

Before the Mission Begins (When the Mission Ends, #0.5)

Before his mission began, he went home. 24 hours to say goodbye to his twin sister.
Instead he found her. A girl that was nothing like the one he thought he knew.
They have 24 hours. 24 hours before he deploys on an extremely dangerous mission. 24 hours together in a freak West Texas snowstorm. 24 hours that will have to get them both through the awful next year.
When the resident good-girl decides to take on the visiting bad-boy, 24 hours is all it takes to change their lives forever.
This is the story of the 24 hours that no one knew ever occurred…until now.
The timeline of this novella is set before the When the Mission Ends trilogy occurs, but this book is actually meant to be read between Book #2, Operation: Endeavor, and Book #3, Operation: Endurance.

We’ve met Julie and watched her suffer in book #2. She’s been constantly present in this family, because she’s Cassie best friend, but this novella is actually set before the events of book #1 and no one is aware they had a weekend together.

Chris is a total nice and this showed a more carefree side of him, that we just couldn’t see lately because of his trauma and recovery. I liked him and how good he treated Julie.

The sex was extra special because Julie was a little scarred from her past experiences and this time she just wanted to like it for a bit and Chris was super sweet and attentive with her. He even calls her Butterfly. Cute!!

Review: Glory in Death by JD Robb

Glory in Death (In Death, #2)

In a time when technology can reveal the darkest of secrets, there’s only one place to hide a crime of passion – in the heart. . .
The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city. And their intimate relations with men of great power and wealth provided Eve with a long list of suspects – including her own lover, Roarke. As a woman, Eve was compelled to trust the man who shared her bed. But as a cop, it was her job to follow every lead . . .to investigate every scandalous rumor . . .to explore every secret passion, no matter how dark. Or how dangerous.

Another case that is connected with Roarke, but since he knows almost everyone in New York is bound to happen a lot. I liked how their relationship evolved since the last book and showed a different side of Eve, with more feelings than she could care but still in love with the perfect guy for her.
The investigation was really hard or her, because the first victim was a PA and the entire city was blaming the cops for poor job. Another thing was the relationship that her chief had with the PA and her family, making her job really harder than ever.
But I liked how Eve was strong and followed the leads the case was throwing at her without fear and always looking for the assassin in the first place without thinking about how much money he had or how his family was.
I think this case was worts than the first, but maybe Eve was more troubled, but I think she did a pretty good job with the investigation and looking in different places. She was feeling really guilt because her bait didn’t work and blamed herself after somebody died, but she made justice in the end and we got to see her as a trophy wife in Roarke’s party, just don’t tell her that.

Review: Naked in Death by JD Robb

Naked in Death (In Death, #1)

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she’s seen it all — and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she’s going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire — and suspect in Eve’s murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it’s up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about — except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.
An unabridged recording on 8 CDs (9 hours, 45 minutes).

My first audiobook and I loved to read once again Dallas adventures while fighting the bad guys and having a normal relationship with the amazing Roarke. This is the first book in this series and it was great way to introduce the characters and show their weakness to the readers.

I loved Eve and how much her job meant to her. During a few moments her pasts is explained and we can see how much she overcame and now is successful and happy with her life and job. She is a lieutenant working for the New York police in a year far away from us and we can see lots of things are different, from cars to computers.

But the best part for me was the investigation and we can see Eve is really intuitive, I think she could be a great psychiatric, because she enters in a crime scene and start to think like the killer. She’s great in this and this case was really difficult because a politic was deeply involved.

On the sideline of the story we were introduced to Roarke and he started as a suspect but we soon discovered he was way more than just a rich guy. He’s intelligent and makes a lot of money, he didn’t start rich, but he build a fancy name for himself and became a billionaire, but now he has his sight set on Eve and she cannot run from him.

I really liked this book and it was so much fun to search for a suspect again with Eve.
