Paranormal Review and Giveaway: Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian

Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed, #10)

The climactic novel in the bestselling Midnight Breed series, of which BookPage raves: “If you like romance combined with heart-stopping paranormal suspense, you’re going to love this book.”
In the dark of night, a blood war escalates within the hidden world of the Breed. After maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order—a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike—to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire, before his push for domination explodes into catastrophe.
At the center of the Order’s quest is Sterling Chase, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. But when his eyes meet those of Tavia Fairchild, Chase finds himself drawn to the woman—and convinced she is something much more than she seems. And while everything logical warns Tavia against getting close to Chase, she cannot deny that he stirs something ravenous within her. As the Order’s enemy mobilizes for the battle of the ages, Chase and Tavia are thrust into the heart of the violence. With time running out, they must find a way to defeat Dragos once and for all—or die trying.

Due to its strong sexual content, this novel is recommended for readers older than 18.

it has been a little while for me since the last full novel and I missed this world, but I also forgot a few things. This is definitely not a stand alone because the story continues pretty much exactly where Deeper than Midnight ended. We get to see all those couples again and even some kids now. But the best part for me was Harvard finally getting the girl. I was getting concerned after the way his character was losing control to the bloodlust, but I believe Tavia is perfect for him.
Tavia was a surprise for me because she was not a little robot, especially after seeing her feelings for Chase. She gave the wrong impression since the beginning but she’s actually a really nice girl and was used for so long that her thoughts and her mind are not her own. Dragos is of course behind this and I liked this new plot. We can definitely see more of Tavia and her sisters in the future.
I liked the new twist for this book. Dragos is getting darker and finally putting his plans in motion, but the worst part is the bloodlust. I see why Dragos thought it was necessary, but things got way out of hand and the Order could have planned better think.
The sole reason this book didn’t got a 5 star rating was the end. Way to simple and easy, after all those years Dragos was defeated too fast and the humanity accepted things way to easily. I can’t wait to see more of this new future.
