This is only a novella but it actually took me awhile to really get into the story, maybe because this is book two and I had no idea at first, but Eve was very fast in discovering the killer and following the evidences. I just never really got to the case, I think.

This is the follow up in a heist case od diamonds and a quarter was disappeared for years, but now one of the heirs decided to write a story and a crazy person is killing to get information and steal the diamonds. So Eve is following the leads and now Peabody is her partner since she made detective, but I actually didn’t see any difference, she’s more a shadow than anything in this case.

Roarke is once again helping but their relationship wasn’t very commented on this novella. So not a complete failure, because is an Eve investigation, but it was just an okay book for me.

Mystery Review: Portrait in Death by JD Robb

Portrait in Death (In Death, #16)

After a tip from a reporter, Eve Dallas finds the body of a young woman in a Delancey Street dumpster. Just hours before, the news station had mysteriously received a portfolio of professional portraits of the woman. The photos seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for any pretty young woman starting a modeling career. Except that she wasn’t a model. And that these photos were taken after she had been murdered. Now Dallas is on the trail of a killer who’s a perfectionist and an artist. He carefully observes and records his victim’s every move. And he has a mission: to own every beautiful young woman’s innocence, to capture her youth and vitality – in one fateful shot…

This book was a little more emotional than the previous because we can finally see more of Roarke past and he discovered a few stories about his mother and how bad his father actually was, but I liked him finding hew things and for the first time looking for his family, it was really nice and touching, but the way he acted with Eve was really bad, because he’s always in her face to say something about her dreams, but when he has something bothering he just lash out.

I liked the investigation and how seeing how much Peabody has grow in her investigative skill. We can see this is a difficult case, but Eve is handling everything by the book. Plus deaths of young adults is always really difficult. But I liked the directions this book decided to lead us. Another great thing is seeing Eve trying to understand her relationship with Nadine. She’s never sure what to do or say behind cameras.

Mystery Review: Reunion in Death by JD Robb

Reunion in Death (In Death, #14)

At exactly 7:30 p.m., Walter Pettibone arrived home to over a hundred friends and family shouting, "surprise!" It was his birthday. Although he had known about the planned event for weeks, the real surprise was yet to come. At 8:45 p.m., a woman with emerald eyes and red hair handed him a glass of champagne. One sip of birthday bubbly, and he was dead. The woman’s name is Julie Dockport. No one at the party knew who she was. But Detective Eve Dallas remembers her all too well. Eve was personally responsible for her incarceration nearly ten years ago. And now, let out on good behavior, she still has nothing but bad intentions. It appears she wants to meet Dallas again – in a reunion neither will forget… "Edgy [and] sexy."-Publishers Weekly

So revenge is usually a good theme to start a book and taking in consideration for how long Eve is working with the NYPSD is fairly simple some bastard would try to get a piece of the best detective, but now she kinda have a little something to lose, or better yet a big something named Roarke that doesn’t like to be followed and makes things more difficult.

So this book is all about revenge and how much the system has flaws. Eve did her best to put Julie behind bars and the system let her out and now she decided to start a little game with the best cop ever and the only one able to get her.

So I liked this book, I really liked but Eve and Roarke makes things so easy for us to love, especially when he’s taking care of her and making everything better. Plus this is their first anniversary and things are complicated, but I actually loved how romantic he is and Eve is learning a bit of how to shop for presents and gave Roarke a very nice gift.

Oh, I almost forgot. Dallas was a mess after everything happened with her in that hotel room and she is starting to relive those things, plus they visited Texas for the case.

Mystery Review: Seduction in Death by JD Robb

Seduction in Death (In Death, #13)

1 MP3-CD / 10 hours
New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, writing as J.D. Robb, continues her prolific string of hits with her latest installment in the In Death series of futuristic thrillers starring hard-boiled detective Eve Dallas and a quirky cast of characters, including Eve’s husband, Roarke, who owns most of Manhattan and can be relied upon to bring all his considerable resources to bear to help his wife solve the case whether she wants him to or not, and Peabody, Eve’s uptight assistant, who has an off-again, on-again thing going with the irreverent Officer McNab. This time Eve is on the trail of a serial killer–or maybe killers–who stalks young women looking for love in online poetry chat rooms. Once a romantic date has been arranged, the murderer sets the scene with roses, champagne, and candlelight, then serves his unsuspecting victims a lethal combination of date-rape drugs that takes them to the height of pleasure and too far beyond. But this killer is really clever, altering his look to become each victim’s dream date. What a nightmare! Detective Dallas is on the case, chasing an anonymous psychopath with a twisted taste in romance. But Eve seems a little more fragile this time around, still plagued by the nightmare of childhood abuse. Is retirement from the business of crime solving in the near future for Detective Dallas? Robb has found a winning formula in the genre, so hopefully we’ll see a lot more of peppery Eve Dallas. –Alison Trinkle

I loved this book and it felt like I was reading one episode of Law and Order SVU with all those deaths and rapes, but the best part was how much this made Roarke and Eve a better couple. between searching for the killer and working with Roarke, Eve had a very difficult time in this book, but I keep feeling this one was better than the previous.

This series is becoming one of my favorite of time, mostly because I got really attached with Eve and Roarke and how much these two have a different relationship, but always make it work. I do live a mystery and Eve is great in getting inside the killer mind, it’s strange and so awesome.

This was another one of those strange cases that left Eve needing Roarke’s help, but these moments made the book more light, like alleviating all the darkness and those deaths. I really liked this number.

This investigation was so horrifying, because a man can simply walk to a person and kill for money. After Eve started the investigation and we discovered his family is so messed up it was really strange seeing how much the human nature can be disturbed.

We have a friend of Roarke showing up in a very suspicious way and I started to think bad things about him, but not as bad as what exactly happened, and this guy is considered a friend above everything else. I liked how Eve never really stopped being a cop and could see clearly through this guy, but Mick was really good.

I liked the story because it revolved around so much different things and we could clearly see someone is after Roarke, plus they attacked Summerset, but of course he is safe and sound after everything. I liked how protective this family became of each other.

A cop is death and as always justice has to be made, but the worst part was the place, of course Roarke installments. Eve was first one scene and discovered more than just a robbery, but also started to investigate more than just a death person.

Turns out to be more than just one cop when a series of deaths were connected and Eve discovered they weren’t exactly exemplar cops, they took bribe and were part of a scheme on the Illegal’s, So Eve had to follow more than just the money and found out a old pal of Roarke, form his previous earlier years while his life was not so legal, looks to be involved in those killings even if only by a far shot.

This was a darker book, because Eve had to see a different side of Roarke and they had an argument related to the investigation and the dangers her life could be at the moment. Don’t get me wrong I love Roarke and how insanely in love he is, but sometimes a person has to draw a line and just say what’s wrong.

I like how Eve is starting to trust more in her friends and we also got to see Dr Mira helping. Super cute.

This was a different case, because nothing was reality and Eve had to discover the lies and the truths in those testimonies. I liked the place was set and it was really insane watching the guy die on center stage, while of course Eve was watching the play herself.

It was a difficult book for me because Eve had a hard time discovering who actually planed the dead, but worst of all was how much this pained her and messed with her personal life because she discovered Nadine had a relationship with the first victim and he wasn’t a good guy.

I liked the investigation and the fact Eve was smarter than the killer, but she also showed a great deal of talent for manipulation and it was nice watching her and Roarke once again.
