Review: Contract for Marriage by Barbara DeLeo

Contract for Marriage-1600

Pregnant and alone after her ex lover’s death, magazine editor RUBY FLEMING’s not about to give up her home to the man who broke her heart—until she discovers her mother left half of the estate to somebody else, and realizes she’s trapped.

Property tycoon CHRISTO MANTAZIS wants the one thing his riches can’t buy—the villa where his mother has lived and worked as housekeeper for forty years. That it’s the same house he was banished from after being caught making love to the owner’s irresistible daughter stirs up old memories and sweetens his desire.

When Christo offers a marriage of convenience to break the deadlock, Ruby knows it’s the only way for them to get what they want. Ruby needs her baby to have the link to its past, Christo needs his mother to retain her home, and for him to have the child he could never father.

But it’s another need—to have Christo again—that Ruby must resist at all costs.

I loved two things about this book, the first fact that totally caught my eye was the setting, because almost every romance I read is either on USA or Greece. So it was a really nice touch to read this one on Oceania. So many beautiful places made this book a fresh romance.
Another very interesting part was the fact Christo became rich, but he never wanted revenge on Ruby and what her family made to him. It was a very disturbing part of his life, but let’s face it he did absolutely nothing to show the true.
I liked Ruby, but she’s not good at keeping relationships and I completely understood the reasons for her to just pack and leave to the States. She suffered a lot and discovered her parents marriage was a lie from early on, but when her dad also said Christo was using her, it was like the last nail in the coffin and she needed a escape.
I didn’t like the way Christo treated her on the present just because of a house, and I expected more from him after he watched the family fall apart. But the romance was actually really sweet and I was hoping for these two to stick together on the end.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
