Book Blurb:

Just one night? Yeah, right. Pippa Laingley should have known better. When an unplanned evening of passion with Cameron Hollingsworth results in unplanned pregnancy, she’s at a crossroads. She knew going in that the enigmatic entrepreneur had built a fortress around his feelings. What she’s just discovered is that he’s loved and lost before—wife and child. Tragically.

Now Cam stands to lose it all again. If he lets Pippa get too close. If he pushes her away with loveless arrangements of financial support. Either way, he’s doomed…unless he can let himself love again.

My Thoughts:

Since I started reading romance there are some authors that I always go back and Maya Banks is one of them. She has very different books and this series explains pretty much how good she is creating a good and believable contemporary romance.

We all know that it’s not necessary a marriage these days only because of a pregnancy, but I do understand since the very beginning of this book why Cam thinks these is very important. He has suffered a lot in his life and now once all that he wants is sex, suddenly Pippa got pregnant in a one night stand.

Pippa is fun, strong and independent woman, but she suffer during this book, because Cam doesn’t trust her his secrets and his actions are a bit on the wrong side. Don’t get me wrong, but he usually finds a way to get things just as he want them.

I loved Cam trusting someone and trying to overcome some of his feelings and most important, Pippa was perfect and did things to make her life for the first time as she wanted not someone else. Just think Cam could have make things right and treated Pippa better since the pregnancy started.

Book Blurb:

Twins? The startling revelation that his affair with Jenna Baker had produced two little boys was almost impossible to grasp. Tycoon Nick Falco had never considered himself the settling-down type, yet now that fatherhood had been thrust upon him, he was determined to give his sons his name. But their mother wasn’t about to let him back into her life…at least not without those three little words Nick had never, ever said.

My Thoughts:

I love Halequin books and some of this series are extra special for me, so when I discovered this one for free on Amazon, I decided it was perfect to Why Buy the Cow? Reading Challenge 2012. There’s also another plus, Harlequin makes great books with babies and sometimes we just want to read a HEA.

This one is no exception, and there’s even two babies. Nick Falco has only one rule for his love live, no sex with employees and that’s what happened in this book. Plus he has some mutant chromosomes because the twins are so his fault and a copy of his dimples.

I loved how Nick struggled first to accept the truth but also started to see his life with kids and started to enjoy this change. It was very fun to read how he took care of the babies and also decided to change his life. For a womanizer this was a serious change but he was so sweet with the babies and change diapers from two is very difficult at first. Fun read and a bit sweet too.

Wild Irish, Book One

Monday’s child is fair of face . . .

After the death of her mother years prior, Keira Collins became a surrogate parent to her six younger brothers and sisters, her own dreams put on hold. At twenty-seven, she’s finally pursuing a college degree. Between classes, working at the family pub and still tending to siblings, she’s no time for romance. So why is she spending all her rare free time fantasizing about hot Professor Wallace bending her over his desk?

Will Wallace recognizes Keira’s unfulfilled desires, her habit of hiding her beauty, her obsessive need to command every aspect of her life. But Will has needs of his own-and they run far darker than Keira’s. As he initiates her into his lifestyle, offering sweet punishments and sweeter rewards, Will’s sexual authority slowly strips away some of her precious control. The one thing Keira’s not ready to relinquish . . .

My Thoughts:

I first read a review for this book on Smitten with Reading and Christi was so I’m love with this series that I decided it was a good review to go on the huge wishlist. But one day I discovered that Come Monday was free on All Romances and purchased the free copy to read some day.

Since March in the States is celebrated Saint Patrick’s day, this book sounded like the perfect read. On the very first day of the month I started, finished and feel in love with Collins family.

This series is about seven siblings from an Irish family and they all live together and work on the family pub and restaurant. The first book is for Kiera and the oldest daughter. Their mother died ten years ago and Kiera was finishing high school and since her mother’s gone she took care of all the family.

When she turned 25 and her family, she decided to go back to study and started college and that’s how she meet Professor Willian Wallace. One semester he’s teaching her creative writing and she started to have very creative and erotic dreams with dear professor.

But Will is also very interested in his student, the only problem for him at least is that in a relationship he’s a Dom and she doesn’t look like someone familiar to the BDSM world.

I love some BDSM books, this is not my first and definily will not be the least. Mari Carr wrote about their sexual encounter in a very gentle way. He’s caring and most of all he knows that this is her first time in his world. So they way he explained and did things was perfect and real for us. Don’t think all the series is about BDSM but from their publisher I think is expected more than a simple doggie style.

Loved the family and how protective her brothers are. Will definily pick the next books in this series.

Book Blurb:

Funny, free-spirited Annie Quintana and sophisticated, ambitious Julia St. Clair come from two different worlds. Yet, as the daughter of the St. Clair’s housekeeper, Annie grew up in Julia’s San Francisco mansion and they forged a bond that only two little girls who know nothing of class differences and scholarships could—until a life-altering betrayal destroyed their friendship.

A decade later, Annie is now a talented, if underpaid, pastry chef who bakes to fill the void left in her heart by her mother’s death. Julia, a successful businesswoman, is tormented by a painful secret that could jeopardize her engagement to the man she loves. When a chance reunion prompts the unlikely duo to open a cupcakery, they must overcome past hurts and a mysterious saboteur or risk losing their fledgling business and any chance of healing their fractured friendship.

My Thoughts:

This book is about friendship and solution of conflicts most off all. Annie was the daughter of the housekeeper and while growing up she had a good relationship with the family including  Julia, the owners daughter, but that changed when both went to high school and gossip got in a way and bad things were said between those two.

Now is ten years later and Annie is working as pastry chef but she always dreamed of opening a cupcake shop, so when destiny put these two together once again they had to try reconnect and discovered what mistakes could be forgotten and forgiven.

I liked the fact that Annie’s and Julia’s thoughts were expressed to us in alternative chapters, so we could understand and actually see what happened in the past that changed this friendship.

Julia is currently in a bit of depression and the shop opening helped her to reconnected with her feelings and try to work better in expressing her thoughts and a few secrets.

Annie on the other end is in a wrong relationship and the shop and try to work with Julia is a lot in once but she also discovered a few secrets from the past and meet a important person.

I really loved this book, is sweet sometimes fun, but most of all is a beautiful story.

Book Blurb:

No Man’s Bargaining Chip

Devon Carter was her first; now newly wed Ashley wants their passion to last. But her dreams of true love are crushed by the discovery that their marriage is another of Daddy’s business deals. Her strategy: act the part of perfect wife and make Devon love her.

But Devon misses the bubbly, no-holds barred woman his wife used to be. Who is this Ashley with the steely demeanor of a society wife? And will he find a way to rekindle the fire in her eyes…especially now that she’s pregnant?

My Thoughts:

Devon Carter decides to marry and start a family since he already is successful in business and can provide for a good home. So when William Copeland, he decides to accept because it will bring him a wife and a merge with Copeland Hotels, but there’s a catch in the agreement, because Ashley Copeland can not discover that her father made this deal with her new fiancé and actually thinks Devon will marry her because they are in love.

Despise what everyone may think Devon actually likes Ashley, not that he thinks she doesn’t know about the way her marriage was treated by her father and she’s a sweet and free girl. Her family is owner of a empire in hotelary and she knows how to move in the same social circle, but not as the brainless girl.

When she discover on her wedding night that her father was meddling in her life, she decides to change and be the perfect wife so that Devon may fall in love with her.

I liked the book, but this hole mess her father made was actually a big difficult thing to get through. She’s beautiful and fun girl it wasn’t necessary for him to decide her life as he did, so I didn’t like this part, but the way some emotional scenes were handled was perfect. I love Maya Banks and her books are always really good and the romance actually works. This one is not different.

Book Blurb:

Savannah Colbert has never known why she’s so hated by the kids of the Clann. Nor can she deny her instinct to get close to Clann golden boy Tristan Coleman. Especially when she recovers from a strange illness and the attraction becomes nearly irresistible. It’s as if he’s a magnet, pulling her gaze, her thoughts, even her dreams. Her family has warned her to have nothing to do with him, or any members of the Clann. But when Tristan is suddenly everywhere she goes, Savannah fears she’s destined to fail.

For years, Tristan has been forbidden to even speak to Savannah Colbert. Then Savannah disappears from school for a week and comes back…different, and suddenly he can’t stay away. Boys seem intoxicated just from looking at her. His own family becomes stricter than ever. And Tristan has to fight his own urge to protect her, to be near her no matter the consequences….

My Thoughts:

I liked two things on this book. One: We discovered the history and some things that made the truce. Two: Loved how different is knowing that she is a daughter of a witch and a vampire. How weird for a girl to have all those hormones and some strange things happening at once.
I liked how Tristan tried to help Savannah since the beginning. He didn’t know about the past or who her family is but still tried to help her when strange persons started to appear, and best them all, he believed her.
Is interesting how racist this society is, they exiled an entire family after years on their side just because of one mistake. Also the vampire side was a bit expected from me since all the books usually show them as terrible individuals.
I think the book has a great plot but this one was a bit long. Hopefully the next will show more action, since we already know the truce is hanging by a thread. I’ll definily read the next one, since this story is so unique.

Book Blurb:

Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life…

My Thoughts:

As amazing as it sounds this is my first read from Maria’s and I have to say that it was impressive. She created a mythical, dying world with loveable characters and an inspiring wish for them to be true.

I received this book for review for quite a while, and don’t knew what to expect, but heard so many good comments about, that I rushed him up my TBR pile and wasn’t disappointed.

I feel falling in a big fantastic world that has healers and magic surround people. As the author introduced a new character she created a whole story for it and made the book even more enjoyable.

Avry didn’t let me down. She’s smart, has a great sense of humor and despise everything she suffered and the people she lost, she still believe and good and honor. And I felt like every action of her was what keep the book so good. I love books with powerful leading characters, the stories are usually richer and this one was a piece of art.

Avry is a healer living in world post a major big disease that killed millions, and the remain blame the healers, so she struggles to help people and continue alive. There’s also a bounty for healer’s death, so everyone is after them. The book start by showing what people are capable off when they feel betrayed, even if is not really true.

Right in the begging, Avry is captured and that’s when we meet the other group of characters. Kerrick is their “boss” and every girl dream: strong, beautiful, but a pain in the ass. He need her help to save a friend, but Avry does not want to help since she met him once and he wasn’t good.

They travel for over three months and find some troubles along the way, plus Avry has a bit of a problem in following rules, so she and Kerrick pick some battles in the between. She helps others and most important for me, she discovers that life is more than saving people, is having friends.

The pact is full of surprises, some good others not so much, but their friendship made it all easier. I fell in love with Papa Bear since the begging and Flea was also a nice surprise. A book full of adventures is always a great read for me.

Will definaly be impatiently waiting for the next one and hoping that Avry will discover a cure for the disease, because definably they will defeat Tohon.
