Brooding loner Preston McQuinn’s new apartment, like his life, was just the way he wanted it — dark and empty. But when sunny Cybil Campbell came barging into his well-ordered gloom, he couldn’t deny a grudging fascination with his bright, bubbly neighbor. And then she tried to hire him — as her date! Preston thought he’d closed the door on love for good, so why was he suddenly longing to open up his heart to his incredibly perfect neighbor?

My Thoughts:

Last book about the MacGregors and if you’ve read the others in this series you can clearly see these two were made for each other. Cybil parents are both driven for the same passion, arts and we can see that his kids live for the same thing. Cybil works for a newspaper making comic squares. She’s this happy thing that makes friends with everyone and lives like a bubbly person.

Now you put Preston in the apartment right in front of her, he’s trying to write a play and is a loner, but Daniel MacGregor rented the apartment for a reason and romance is bound to happen.

I liked Cybil and she’s a great girl, living and making life enjoyable for her friends. She love’s her friends and make sure they know it, but things are difficult for Preston because he’s a guy hiding. Not that he’s done anything wrong, but a girl used him and hurt his heart really bad.

This was a okay book and is not the best in the series but we got to see a little more from the family and Daniel working his magic.

It worked with his granddaughters. Now Daniel MacGregor, powerful patriarch of the MacGregor clan, wants to see his three handsome, eligible—but stubbornly single—grandsons married. So he’s found just the women to tempt, tease and torture D.C., Duncan and Ian all the way to the altar. And you can bet Daniel will be sitting by with his feet up, a glass of whiskey in hand, smugly watching his plans unfold . . .

My Thoughts:

The book share three stories, just like The MacGregor Brides. Three grandsons from Daniel, one from each of his sons and daughter. As usual he tells the stories and also get emotional as each boy finds their happily ever after, because these MacGregors live forever. Daniel is ninety years old and still meddling.

Part One

We start we D.C., Alan and Shelby son. He’s an artist as everyone in his family. For him Daniel chose Layna Drake, goddaughter of Myra, we saw her in several books. Moving along we got to see that DC likes to have no rules and work at all hours, so a women for him is pretty much open minded. He’s house is a mess but he doesn’t care, after growing up living in the White House, he likes to live day by day.

Layna is set in her work plans and doesn’t want a relationship at this time of life, but her Godmother set her on a blind date with an boy from her childhood. He’s gorgeous, independent and smart. Difficult not to fall in love with him.

I liked this couple and they have chemistry but at first I wasn’t convinced they would be good together as more than sex. DC is not the most romantic guy, but his smooth and a charmer. Layna just needed to open her eyes and realize that life is more than work.

Part Two

Is about Duncan finding love. He’s Mac brother and as run in the family likes to bet. He owns and run a casino ship through the Mississippi, so Daniel send his way Cat, a pretty singer and the sexy goddess.

They were great together, plus the sex scenes were extra hot. She is more concerned about her career and he decided to help because she’s a really great singer and has suffered a lot growing up in a bad neighborhood.

I liked this couple but for me they have nothing special besides the chemistry.

Part Three

The best story so far is this one. Ian is a lawyer like his parents and meet Naomi, responsible for a bookstore that he used to go since kids. I liked how Ian acted, at first he thought Naomi was shy but after realizing that she is actually virgin and he’s the first to make her experience these emotions.

Ian was very sweet the whole time and even tried to give her time to see other people before their marriage, since she never had a relationship before. He’s very thoughtful. She loves and is a bit insecure, but I loved this couple.

Book Blurb:

In one extraordinary moment, Darcy Wallace was transformed from being down-on-her-luck into a millionaire sharing candlelight dinners with Robert MacGregor Blade. Mac was the most seductive man she ever met — though he certainly wasn’t the marrying kind. But Darcy was feeling lucky…So with searching kisses and aching vulnerability, the innocent beauty set about making the stubborn bachelor see that love was the biggest gamble — and he was going to have to ante up!

My Thoughts:

I loved this book and is another reason why Nora Roberts can really write. Mac is a great guy but like any male he thinks being a bachelor is the best thing for him at the age of 30, and lets face it he lives in Las Vegas and is responsible for the hotel there.

Darcy has suffered a lot and doesn’t know much in life about love, so it was interesting seeing this two find each other and at the same time try to understand new feelings and change their lives forever by choosing the right thing.

Darcy won almost 2 millions mostly for pure luck, but I believe and that’s how Nora picture it for me, Darcy won more than just money. She won the MacGregors, a huge family where love is the most important thing. She faced her fears and left some bad parts of her life behind. Plus she started a new career, what she really desired in the first place.

Mac is handsome, great guy, rich and loving. Could a girl want anything more?

Book Blurb:

Lauren is visited in her dreams for years by a stranger claiming to be her destiny. Destiny becomes reality when paths cross during a failed robbery attempt. Lauren and the stranger experience chemistry like no other and now her doubt over her long time relationship with her high school sweetheart is not her only secret…someone else knows about her keen intuition and sixth sense.A mysterious clairvoyant seeks Lauren out and tells her not only of her life now but what the future may hold. Soon Lauren is in the middle of a murder investigation and a questionable friendship with the key suspect. Law enforcement, friends and family are concerned for Lauren but unfortunately they are unaware of the true danger…Sinister forces are at work and will stop at nothing to destroy Lauren’s abilities.

My Thoughts:

I liked several parts of this book but others just didn’t set right for me.

Let’s start with the good ones: the destiny and soul mates was really good and I was trying to anticipate until the end how Lauren would handle things; the author explained really well the settings and how the people around Lauren were responsible for her actions along with her, and the sense like everyone is important for a reason was really good; Max was another great character, he’s young and tormented by some things that happened in his past and still tries to find he’s place, like he’s lost without he’s soul mate.

Other things weren’t good for me: Lauren can’t see her future but she senses some things form people around her, like good or bad vibes and I didn’t like how her friend just couldn’t trust her after everything that happened; Lauren’s best-friend he sounds like a champion, especially when he start to try manipulate her, not quite right for me; the last chapter was a big no from me, because it was unexpected and seriously could you see that happening and accept, I just didn’t; the author could have used better the help from those “guardians”, I feel like those are really interesting persons and the voices could have guided Lauren a bit better.

Today I welcome author Nancy Straight here at Book Travels. She will do an special guest post telling all about the beautiful cover.

Thanks so much for hosting the Meeting Destiny tour!  I’m thrilled to be here!

I commissioned Meeting Destiny’s cover with Dreamscape Covers. We started with the model. Dreamscape sent me pictures of over 100 different models to choose from – all of them were drop dead gorgeous. The model on Meeting Destiny’s cover is Mihaela Voicu, I believe she lives in Romania. When I saw her photograph – I didn’t really even notice the other 99 models, she was exactly how I pictured the main character, Lauren.

One of the elements of Meeting Destiny’s plot was that Max first came to Lauren in a dream. It seemed only fitting that the model be lying down, eyes-open, thinking about the dream – this was the image I wanted the cover to convey.

Dreamscape Covers contacted Mihaela and asked for more photographs, we used her on the Destiny’s Revenge and the Destiny’s Wrath covers, too.

If there are any authors out there looking for an amazing company to work with for cover design – I highly recommend Dreamscape Covers. They listened to exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations!

Book Blurb:

DANIEL MACGREGOR IS AT IT AGAIN!

At age ninety, there is nothing the powerful patriarch of the MacGregor clan would like more than to see his three eldest granddaughters happily married — and he’s handpicked three unsuspecting candidates he believes would make perfect husbands. But this might be his biggest matchmaking challenge yet: his granddaughters are so focused on their careers that marriage is the last thing on their minds. It’s a good thing this meddlesome nonagenarian has a few tricks left up his sleeve …

My Thoughts:

This book is a bit different from the others so far, because for once is an anthology with three stories, three girls that Daniel MacGregor decided to help settle down and find romance and love, because dear Anna misses some babies as he constantly says.

The first one is centered in Laura, Caine and Diana daughter, that as her parents only can think off law, another lawyer for the family and the first granddaughter that fell in Daniel plans for love, marriage and babies. For her he picked Royce Cameron, another Scotland heir. He was once an police officer but after some problems he decided to open a security company and that’s how we met him. Royce was hired by Daniel to install the best security system in the girls house, yes the three cousins live together. Royce knows exactly what he wants and Laura decides to give a chance for faith, or Daniel and they start to enjoy and relationship.

The second story is Gwendolyn falling in love. She is Serena and Blade daughter, and like her mother, extremely smart and decided to follow Anna’s path, as in med school. She’s really all studies and no fun, actually she has a bit of problems with understand other people feelings, but Branson Maguire is the best to help her and made her fall in love. He’s a writer and Daniel send him to study the hospital and inspire some characters for his next novel. Things were really difficult at first for these two, but once they had some help it got really great. For me these was the best story from the book.

The last one is Julia story. She is Alan and Shelby daughter and we also get to know what happened in the past for these characters. Julia is really sparkly, after living in the white house and learning how to grow surrender by people, she is better suited for fall in love, but also doesn’t know how to express her feelings and it took quite some time for her to understand that Cullum was the perfect guy for her. Of course Daniel helped!

This was a fun book, and I really enjoy Nora writing. Is a romance so we all know what to expect but she twist things during her stories that makes me guess every time.

Christmas was Allanna Flynn’s favorite time of year–but when injured Minuteman Ian MacGregor sought refuge in her New England home, Allanna found herself caught in a war of hearts with the handsome rebel. Could this become the season of peace on earth. . . and goodwill to one special man.

My Thoughts:

This is a short story about a MacGregor that used to live in the States during the tea battle. Ian MacGregor gets shot during a fight and between life and death he meets Allanna.
Allanna loves the Christmas and when she meets a strange in her barn fighting death, she does all possible to save him, but what she didn’t know was that Ian was not her dream man, but he definily was in her future.
Loved how these two connected and after some time together also discovered that was impossible for them to stay away from each other. He’s a fighter and all she wants is to live safely after her first husband died.

Book Blurb:

Self-made millionaire Daniel MacGregor always gets his way, but convincing fiercely independent Anna Whitfield to marry him may be the challenge of his lifetime.

My Thoughts:

This one is about Daniel and Anna. How difficult for Daniel it was to understand and accept this woman that against all reasons decided to go to medical school and start working to save people lives.

Daniel decides to find a woman and get married, for the simple reason that is what everyone does. He’s rich now and work flipping houses and companies. So he get to choose from the old families, whose money will open doors.

In one ball he meets Anna Whitfield and struck for her beauty decides to court her,but what he doesn’t expected was that she wasn’t hoping for marriage, just to continue in college and get a career.

Is a bit funny to read how Daniel suffered to change he’s ideas and started to vow Anna. She’s a singular woman with a good heart and for this she actually is perfect for him.

When we read the other books, Daniel always got what he wanted and we saw Anna as a quiet woman but in this book we can see that in reality she’s much more than just that.
