Forgotten Visions Book Tour with Giveaway!

Hey guys, today I have author Lia Davis sharing an excerpt of her book Forgotten Visions for you guys. I’ve read it already and it’s intriguing and really special, my review will be posted later today, but there’s a giveaway going on and I wanted to give you a chance to sign up faster. I will leave you with a little bit of Ayden and Kalissa.

Ayden Daniel had only been in Charlotte an hour before his cousin, Zach, called with a favor. No. Not quite a favor. A request that sounded more like a plea.

“You’re shittin’ me?”

“I’m afraid not. Charlotte PD said it was a hit and run.”

Right. “Please tell me she’s …”

“She’s alive. A bump on the head, but she’ll be okay.” Zach hesitated before continuing. “I know how you feel about her, but you’ll have to go get her.”

A muttered curse slipped from his lips at the same time his heart lodged in his throat. “Fine.” The word came out in an irritated huff. Ayden hung up and wished he had never answered the damn phone. No, that wasn’t completely true. He would never forgive himself if something happened to Kalissa that he could have prevented.

She was the one person he’d hoped to avoid as much as possible when he’d taken his place as Sheriff of Maxville. It wasn’t that he disliked her, that was the problem. Despite his better judgment and a glutton for punishment, he still cared too damn much for the woman.

The mere mention of her name made his pulse race with excitement. His body hardened at the thought of seeing her again after fifteen years. But his mind screamed to walk away. To let her be. Kalissa was trouble, and a hazard to his heart. She’d broken it once—torn it right out of his chest—at the age of seventeen.

A human friend had laughed at the mention of their young age and Ayden’s claim that she was the only one for him. A mistake on his part to confide in a human and expect him to understand magickin way of life. Magickin children developed at a faster rate. At the age of seventeen, he was as mature as most twenty-five-year-old humans and fully aware that he had met his eternal companion.

They were life partners—magical mates—destined to spend their extended lives together. To find one at such a young age was a gift.

A gift she stole from him.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog today! I’m very excited to be here.

Not only am I a writer, but I am also a major bookworm. When I sit down to read a book, I like to get lost in it, as most reader’s do. I like a hint of reality along with one of those plots that we all wish would happen. You know, the fantasy of the cabana boy cleaning the pool and uh…lots of other stuff. *wink wink*

When I first came up with the idea to Tempting The Manny, I thought it was going to purely be fantasy. A man who comes in and helps a woman with her kids and then heats up her nights. That wasn’t all that happened. Olivia had a story to tell. In fact, as I wrote this story, I was amazed that Olivia turned into the character that she did.

In Tempting The Manny, you will of course find hot sex but you will also meet a woman who has a lot of growth. Olivia leaves a bad relationship to start a journey of growing stronger and learning who she is. And by the end of the novella, she has done just that. I think this novella is packed with chemistry, sex, and emotion.

It was a surprise for me when the story became more than just pure lust and fantasy. Then again, as a writer, one thing I have learned in characters don’t always make things easy for us.

So now I’d love to hear from you. When you sit down with the perfect book, is it for fantasy, reality, or a mix of both.

EXCERPT:

Jamie’s gaze followed Olivia’s ass as she walked toward the fridge. She bent slightly over reaching for the ketchup, and he was worried his erection was going to burst out of his pants. The way she looked at him as she headed back to her plate of food, he wasn’t sure if she was hungry for those fries or him. He had never met a woman with so much sexual desire, it was almost pouring from her veins. He wasn’t sure about the story with the ex, but that man had to be crazy for leaving.

Ketchup was on the corner of her mouth. Instinctively, he grabbed the towel, leaned forward, and wiped her mouth. Her eyes locked on his and, before he could even think twice, his hand wrapped around the back of her neck and pulled her to him. Her mouth met his just as fiercely and opened, letting his tongue slide in. The taste of ketchup met his taste buds and the need to taste more of her sprung through his body.

Olivia gripped his shoulders and pulled him closer. His free hand took hold of her waist. His erection shoved into her stomach. The kiss was like fire and even though he knew he should be resisting, he had to keep playing. Turning his head to the side, he deepened the kiss. She tasted so good and felt even better in his arms.

Pushing her back slightly against the counter, he nudged her legs apart with his knee, pressing his thigh tightly between. His dick was so hard now, it hurt.

Her mouth left his and for a moment he almost had time to stop and think about how wrong this was, but then her tongue swirled around his ear lobe and he was gone again.

His aching hands found her breasts, full and large. He cupped them, but imagined his face pressed between them instead. Licking his lips, he couldn’t wait to taste them.

“Mr. Jamie.” A little girl’s voice called from the living room.

Frozen, he took a step back from Olivia.

“Just a minute,” he called back.

Olivia’s eyes were full of passion. She bit her lip and he could tell she was nervous, but not for a second did she regret what happened. He knew this had been very wrong and he hated what he had to say. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have kissed you.”

A smile crossed her face when he had expected something different.

“I don’t think you are.”

Her hand reached down, touching his erection. He sucked in, now biting his lip to try a push away the urge to grind into it.

Letting her hand drop, she strutted past him to go to her daughter. His gaze once again followed her round little ass in her pencil skirt. She was right. If Morgan hadn’t interrupted them, he would have been finding out what it was like under that skirt.

This book had all the things I love in a romance. Great sex, friendship and search for a different life. There’s usually something wrong in the characters life to begin in the book and they need to change and try to find what makes them happier.

Olivia is leaving a boring relationship with her boyfriend of seven years and her two girls are staying with her. There is Olivia’s first mistake, because she stayed with the girls father during seven years and didn’t even got married, he must have something wrong or doesn’t want the relationship to begin with.

He always worked and provided to her and the girls and now she has to find a nanny and a job. Because to depend on him is really bad. That’s how she met Jamie, he’s a manny, a man to take care of the girls and he’s really good about it. But they also have a crazy chemistry and the sexual attraction makes them stop to discover what’s best.

I liked how the book showed Olivia rediscovering herself and learning to overcome some bad influences, Jamie is also really good at showing how she can be a good mother and a great women without having to chose one of those.

It’s a short book but I felt like it was well written and the story actually has a good time and shows a normal relationship, plus the sex scenes were great.

Summary

He threw her inhibitions overboard.

Cruise director Michaela Western has everything she wants—everything except a sex life. But there are no secrets on cruise ships. She risked her job once for a dalliance with the Captain, and won’t do it again for a few minutes of toe-curling pleasure. Until a devilishly handsome new staffer with a body made for sin tempts her to walk on the wild side…

Investment billionaire Dylan Johns always gets what he wants. He is used to giving orders—not taking them—until he’s forced to go on hiatus from his investment company. To bide his time and carry out an old dream, he takes a job on a cruise ship—and ends up taking orders from his gorgeous, but uptight, new boss. He is determined to loosen her up with a fun onboard romance, but their no-strings fling turns serious and Dylan is forced to confess his lies.

When the affair threatens to shatter Michaela’s own career dreams, she finds herself caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

My Thoughts
This book is about a summer romance that became more than expected. It feels very much like an Harlequin book, but needed a bit more love and fun between these two for me to really enjoy the relationship.
Michaela is a gorgeous woman that doesn’t have fun in life and believes only work is going to make her happy. She had a bad relationship with a married man and now is working with him, so her work place is not the best, plus she lives abroad in a cruise ship. Every guy she meets is either working for her or a paying customer. Not great.
Dylan is another unhappy character. He gave up his dreams of dancing and is now the head of a multi million dollars company, family business. Plus he’s constantly dealing with his brother and his disappearing’s and his sister-in-law and her feelings for him.
These sound like nice people needing a good time and to actually enjoy a moment in life without having to worry about consequences, but they didn’t match as a couple for me. She’s too insecure and he’s a mess. As friends they would be great, but the relationship was a bit forced for me.
I liked the ending and how they finally discovered reasons to live and be happy.
