It’s Top 10 Tuesday (hosted at The Broke and the Bookish) and the topic is:

TOP 10 BOOKS New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013

I had a hard time chosing ten authors, because this year I mostly tried to finish some series and read something new from my oldies. I picked my favorites from the bunch and became quite happy in the end because they are all adult books, with a few romances along the way.

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1)

1.  Jeaniene Frost

I had a hard time starting this series last year and decided to stop, but on the second time, Cat and Bones made me realise they are perfect and this is my new UF author to follow.

Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampires, #1)

2.  Larissa Ione

I started two series from her and loved her creations, the universe and the vampires are so different. Will finish her series next year for sure.

Shadowed (Dark Protectors, #6)

3.  Rebecca Zanetti

She made me read two series back to back. She became my rush to buy author this year and her books are full of alpha males, so everything is extra hot. You can pick with cowboys or vampires.

The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1)

4. Gena Showalter

I have heard great things about this series, but it’s huge and I got a little scared, but those first books took my breath away. Loved the bromance, the fighting and the love. Felt to me like BDB. Gena is an author that I will read more next year.

Gone with the Wolf (Seattle Wolf Pack, #1)

5. Kristin Miller

Supernatural was my thing this year, but I barely read anything about wolves. This book was one of few and the author was a nice surprise for me. I already have book two waiting to be read.

The Look of Love (The Sullivans, #1)

6. Bella Andre

I fell in love with the Sullivans on the first book and this one became one of my favorite contemporary romance series. The covers are gorgeous and we can clearly picture them as everyday people.  Bella made an incredible series.

Recipe for Attraction (Madewood Brothers, #2)

7. Gina Gordon

For some reason I love when a big alpha male can cook. I think it makes them cute and super normal, even if not all men can do that. This series is all about start over. I liked the first book and loved even more the second. Can’t wait for more Madewood brothers.

Wrong Bed, Right Guy (Come Undone, #1)

8. Katee Robert

She was a great surprise for me. I loved the first book and had to read the rest ASAP. Tha is a proof to me of a great author. Katee creates those sizzle hot scenes with big alpha male fighting love.

Tempted by Her Boss (The Renaldis, #1)

9. Karen Erickson

This was one of my latest read this year and one boring afternoon I decided to read a freebie that I had from Amazon, turns out the story was only a prequel for a new series and I got so hooked that dispise my big TBR, the series got read. Loved her creation and these romances were full of feelings and drama.

One to Keep (Nights in Bliss, Colorado, #3)

10. Sophie Oak

I love erotica and this book is the perfect example of a great erotica romance, because not everything has to be perfect, not everyone needs to know your secrets and most of all you need to trust your partner. Sophie create a cute and very charming town where love can be whatever you desire. I’m slowly reading this series and loving the different aspects of love she creates with each book.

Have you read any of those series?

Summary:

In this Bolton Brothers book, first comes the baby and maybe then comes marriage?

He’d never expected to see Stella Caine again. After one wild night, she’d walked away right after revealing that her father was the one man who could threaten the biggest business deal of Bobby Bolton’s career. So Bobby left her alone.

Until now.

Now Stella is pregnant and staying in his condo. This is a complication that can be solved only one way: marriage. Bobby wants to do the right thing. Hell, he wants her–he has never stopped wanting her. Surely he can convince her to say yes, even without those three little words.

Review:

I think this is the last book in this series, but not my favorite because I was never a fan of Bobby and he sound like a giant ass during the first two, but now we got to see his reasons and why people think less of him. I have to say he was better than I expected and treated Stella like a lady even after she told him about the pregnancy. He acted like a true Bolton.

Stella was a difficult character for me because she’s cold and very suffered a lot in her childhood, but after all those years she can’t find her place and that for me was a strange think, considering how much she tried to escape her father tyranny. I wanted more bravery from her especially because she lived in another country and could live as she wished.

These two needed to deal with some trust issues first, but they made a cute couple. And we got to see more of those badass Bolton Brothers again.

Summary:

Lori “Naughty” Sullivan finally falls in love in ALWAYS ON MY MIND, the new book in Bella Andre’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling series about the Sullivan family.

After a tragic loss three years ago, Grayson Tyler left his life in New York City behind and started over in the rolling hills of the California coast. He’s convinced himself that all he’ll ever need again is the blue sky, a thousand acres of pasture, and the crashing waves of the ocean. Until one day, Lori Sullivan barges into his life and promptly blows his emotionless and solitary world to shreds, driving him crazy as only a woman nicknamed “Naughty” can. But will Lori be able to convince him that it’s safe to love her…and that forever isn’t actually out of reach?

Photobucket

Review:

I have to confess that this book was extra high on my wishlist, but after I read the summary and discovered that Lori’s happy ending was nothing to different, she got a nice guy and changed her life completely. I wanted more and her past relationship was a drama, but could have been more explored in this book.

Grayson was a nice surprise because at first I tohugh he was just another farmer, but he showed a very different and tortured side with pain and suffering. His family was barely there and he needed someone to actually help him, Lori was the perfect person to do that.

And here is my problem with this book, because I was supposed to love Lori and the changes in her life, but in reality I liked Grayson more and more during the sotry.

Summary:

There’s nowhere better to spend the holidays than with New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery in the town of Fool’s Gold, where love is always waiting to be unwrapped… Noelle Perkins just got a second chance at life, and she intends to make the most of every minute. That’s why she ditched a frustrating legal career to open her own store in Fool’s Gold, California. The Christmas Attic celebrates everything that’s magical about her favorite season. Business is booming, and as a bonus, gorgeous army doctor Gabriel Boylan has offered to help out during the holiday rush.
Gabriel’s memories of Christmas past contain more sour grapes than sugar plums, thanks to a drill sergeant father who ran his home like a boot camp. Spending the holidays with his family while he recuperates from injury sounds as appetizing as last year’s eggnog. Still, there are some enjoyable distractions in town, including sunny, sexy Noelle…and the red-hot mistletoe kisses they can’t stop sharing.
Gabriel didn’t think he was made for happily-ever-afters. But when fate hands you a love as sweet and surprising as this, only a fool could refuse….

Photobucket

Review:

This novella was actually really long and I liked the fact we got to understand more of Boylan family. This is the closing link in this trilogy and we got to see Gabriel falling in love and rediscovering his family.

Noelle we had met previously in this trilogy and she was hiding something, but never got to actually say anything about it with the other girls, but this time she met an infuriating man and he got to know her secrets. She didn’t do anything wrong, but life wasn’t easy either and now she’s starting new with her Christmas store.

This book is set during Christmas and I love the setting, the places and of course there’s always snow so everything is better. But this year Christmas was a little hard and Noelle needed help, so Gabriel was the perfect match because he was running from his family and trying to discover what to do with his future.

I loved this couple and of course meeting those other couples again. But the best part was Christmas and getting the family together again.

Review:

I liked Melissa a lot, because after all the drama in her life she managed to land on her feet and create a new life. But she wants more and after her husband cheated on her she decided to create a new life all by herself, but things are not so easy and she is not happy.

I liked Cooper but he made a few mistakes, the biggest was not telling about the affair, because Melissa was his best friend, but her husband knew that he was in love with her and the drama was huge.

So he didn’t say anything and now a few years has gone bye and she didn’t forgive him, but he such a nice guy and things are heading a different way now that he wants to help Melissa.

I liked this romance and the way things changed after so many years. It’s always nice to see friends becoming something else. But Melissa fought a lot and Cooper never gave up.

Photobucket

Review:

I loved this tory, both suffered a lot before realizing their lives would be better and without all the drama if they only talked and discussed their problems. Lilly tried so her to be perfect and never for one minute thought about sharing her demons with Riccardo.

I really liked the way Riccardo decided to change the destiny and make things right again, he never gave up, but he truly loved her, he made some mistakes and I realize he was wrong about some choices, but they both changed now and the year part made them see some things differently now.

I think the separation was good for both of them, because it gave Lilly some independency and made her more strong, and Riccardo needed this time to put some perspective in the way he was treating Lilly.

These two made me cry and I was really happy in the end, so this was a perfect romance and a debut too.

Summary:

Movie star Smith Sullivan can’t afford any distractions. He’s staking his entire reputation on his new film…but he can’t stop thinking about Valentina Landon and the fire he sees smoldering just beneath the surface of her cool exterior.

Valentina isn’t averse to sensual pleasure, or even to the idea of finding true love, but as a Hollywood business manager she’s watched too many smart women fall for actors…only to be torn apart when the fairytale comes to its inevitable end.

But when intense weeks together on set turn their heated attraction into red-hot flames of passion, Smith knows he has to find a way to convince Valentina to let him get a little bit closer. Close enough to completely steal her heart…the way she’s stolen his from the start.

Photobucket

Review:

Smith is always mentioned as the pretty one and he’s almost perfect, but I though his book would be boring. He’s an actor and very famous so all the girls want him, but this book showed a different side of his life and we got to see the person behind the movies.

He’s a decent guy and wanted to make a movie to change lives and send a message, not just for movie and we can see this project is really important to him, because he wrote and is also directing the movie, but I liked that in the middle of all this he decided to pursue happiness too.

Valentina wanted nothing to do with him and we can clearly understand her reasons, but Smith is such a nice guy and he pays attention to her needs and her pleasures too. He wooed her and she could not help, but fall in love with him and I don’t blame her a bit.

This was a nice book and I liked Smith more than Valentina. Her family is a bit insane and the end was a little rushed to me, but we got to see the rest of the family and a wedding too.
