Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

My Thoughts:

This book was a really difficult one for me because I started hating Nash after what happened on My Soul to Keep and the way he used Kaylee was very wrong, plus now he wants forgiveness and try to make things go back to the very begin like nothing had happened, like he remember everything.

Another problem was Sabine. She’s Nash ex-girlfriend and not a normal human, but it took a very long time for Nash and Tod to really explain things, but Sabine was not a good girl and was hurting Kaylee since day one.

Everybody acted on this book like Kaylee was looking for trouble when we all now that trouble always find her no matter what, so she was only trying to understand things and save people once again. Of course since Sabine is the new and different, plus trying to steal Nash, let’s put the blame on her.

I liked the story, was very dark and the plot really involving, but still don’t like how Nash reacts sometimes and why people just don’t believe her. she’s always right.

Book Blurb:

When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.
So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.

Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk….

My Thoughts:

This is the second book on the Rachel Vincent series Soul Screamers and I heard some mixed thoughts about this book. In reality is not better than the first but the first was pretty good for me. So overall is a good book.

I liked some parts of this one. The Netherland was better explained on this book and it helped for us to understand the danger and why is so important to Kaylee to study and now more about her life and where she came from. Still not forgive her father for abandon her knowing full well what was happening.

Also I liked how the relationship between Kaylle and Nash is evolving. The kisses are more real and steamy. Plus there’s actual chemistry between those two.

In this book we get more from the reaper. Tod, shows that even thought he’s dead, he actually has feelings and tries to save he’s ex-girlfriend from spend the eternity suffering on the Netherworld.

The book is more than an adventure on the Netherworld and it showed that the characters developed more feelings. I hope the books continue like these. We get an insight from both: the story and the characters.

The Deets

The Soul Screamers Challenge will begin on January 15, 2012 and end on June 14, 2012.
You can join the challenge at any time during the above dates by signing up in THIS POST.
You do not have to be a book blogger to join. You just need somewhere to post your review and/or talk about the books you’ve read (i.e., Facebook, Goodreads, personal blog). If you do not have any of those outlets, and your review is positive, I will be happy to post your review as a guest post on my blog My Reading Pile.

Books must be read and reviewed between January 15th and June 14th. You can read and review them at any time during the challenge, but each book you read and review during the scheduled month will give you an extra entry into the Before I Wake giveaway at the end of the challenge.

You can read the books in any format or edition you’d like – eBook, audiobook or even in print!
Each month, on the 15th, there will be a post in which you can link up your reviews or posts for THAT MONTH ONLY. You can leave more than one link if you’ve read and reviewed more than one of the books that month.

If you choose to do a participation post, you can leave your participation post link on my SSRC page. At the end of the challenge, those who have added their links will automatically be entered into a giveaway for either a $50 Amazon or Barnes & Noble giftcard or $50 in books of their choice from Amazon or The Book Depository.

If you’ve already read and reviewed all the books in this series, do not fear. Re-reads count as long as you are re-reading them during this challenge! You don’t have to do a new review unless you want to. Just create a post talking about the re-read experience – Was it better the second time around? Did you discover something new that you missed the first time? Did you love Tod just a bit more? There’s plenty to talk about!
