Life in isolation is the safest place for Chase Johnson, a crossbreed who doesn’t know which form he’ll assume next—cougar or wolf. Once a year, his unelected position as spokesman for the Yukon outcasts forces him to visit civilization. This time he runs across someone unexpected. She’s not his mate, but she pushes all the right buttons.

It’s taken years for Shelley Bradley to gather the courage to return to her home pack. In spite of being the lowest of the low—a shifter who can’t shift—she’s determined to make a place for herself as the Whitehorse locals’ new vet-slash-doctor.

There’s definite electricity between her and Chase, but sex with fellow shifters and the inherent mind games got old a long time ago. Ignoring him seems best. When he shows up at her office with a wound that won’t heal, she’s stuck—yet drawn to solve this medical mystery.

As they journey deep into outcast territory in search of answers, their powerful sexual attraction crumbles her resistance. But time is of the essence. If a cure can’t be found before his human and cougar succumb to his injury, he—and others like him—will die.

I liked this book, but I expecting Evan for the next story. Don’t really consider this book really part of the Takhini pact, because Shelley was not from town and left the wolf problems a long time ago and Chase is the alpha of his misfits, so not really part of a pact neither.

Shelley left Whitehorse after being bullied her entire childhood, because she’s a half wolf and needs sex to be triggered. It was easy for the other wolfs to pick on her and once she grow up things escalated and she had to leave for safety.

Chase on the other end enjoys the nature and loves to live alone with his thoughts as company. He’s a methis and can change into two different forms, but can’t control the appearances. He’s like a lider for the pack less that leave in the wild.

I liked how these two connected and Shelley was a great girl, she never gave up and even not having her wolf to ask for help, she never run from the fight. I liked Chase and the way he handled the issues and the danger that appeared around them.

One thing I didn’t like and that’s the only reason for the absence of the 5 start. Why can’t Shelley change? She had sex, but it’s like there’s something missing in her. I just wanted for her to be complete with her wolf and Chase.

Lone wolf Shaun Stevens’s automatic response to the words "happily ever after"? "Kill me now." Yet with all his friends settling down he’s begun to think there may actually be something to this love-and-roses crap.

One thing’s for sure: his dream mate will have to out-cuss, out-spit and out-hike him. So he never expected the one to push his forever button would be a blue-blooded Southern debutante with a voice as dark and velvety as her skin.

When Gemmita Jacobs steps off the plane in Whitehorse, Yukon, it’s about more than her caribou research project. It’s her declaration of independence from an overprotected upbringing. Except there’s something in the air she can’t quite define-something that unexpectedly rouses her mating instincts.

Moments after their eyes lock, the deed is done-and done thoroughly. When the pheromone dust settles, though, all the reasons they don’t belong together become painfully clear.

It’s enough to make a wolf learn a whole new set of cuss words…

We met Shaun in the Granite Lake series and somehow now it’s the start of a new series, kinda spin off from the other great wolves and Shaun is starting to find his place in this pack.

I liked him from some moments in the books, since he’s usually pretty fun to have around and a great guy to ask for help sometimes he showed up and managed to save somebody or escape to don’t sniff anyone.

He’s getting restless after all he’s friends managed to find a mate and now he’s pretty much alone and dealing with the new Alpha for the Takhini pack. But everything changed when he found his mate and the relationship started pretty great, but she’s a rich girl and daddy gave her the moon, but she’s trying to work by herself and show everyone she’s a good wolf.

Not what I expected for Shaun, basically he was stuck with a pretty girl and he’s a funny guy to have around but not to introduce to daddy, so these two had to learn and accept the other side, for help or even for companionship.

Gem got in trouble, but that wasn’t her fault and she’s more than just a princess, and she was very good in the wild. Shaun didn’t showed a huge difference from the start but I liked how he adapted to Gem and tried to focus on her more than anything. It was a good book.
