Summary:

Jase Kayrs was the fun brother. The warm, charming, easy-going brother of the vampire leaders. Until he was taken and tortured by demons with their evil mind tricks for nearly five years. Upon his return, he’s dark, violent, and not the man they all thought they knew. Not the man he once was. He’s haunted that the only reason the demons would have let him live was to use him as a weapon against his family—but he can’t figure out when or how he’ll explode. Plus, once again the demons are after Jase with a vengeance…or rather, a female demon he rejected is out to destroy him.

Then the king asks Jase for a favor…a big one. To mate with one of their allies in order to save her. She’s everything that’s good and light in the world…while he’s at home with darkness. Yet he agrees…knowing mating may be the only chance to save them both.

Review:

I feel in love with this series and ever since the ending of Twisted we can see that Jase is in a bad shape and needs some hepl after all the drama he went throught with the Demons, but now the world is a little different and the Kairs are in war with pratially everybody. That’s why the king asked hm to mate with Brenna, to unite even more the vampires with the witches.

Brenna is in a bad shape and can’t acess her powers anymore, she has a few more months of life and this mating is possibly the last chance she has to fight the poison inside her, but Jase also has a problem and since he was kidnapped he can control the elements. This mating was supposed to help the both, but things are not that sinple and now everybody is after Brenna.

I liked this book so much. It was amazing seeing all the Kayrs family again and Jase was such a ncie guy even after everything. Brenna was a huge help for him, and these two are so cute together. The war is still going strong, but the demons and the kurjans are losing more each day.

Young Adult Review: Midnight Frost by Jennifer Estep

Midnight Frost (Mythos Academy, #5)

Here we go again …
Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.
As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects me to lead the charge against the Reapers, even though I’m still hurting over what happened with Spartan warrior Logan Quinn. I’ve got to get my hands on the antidote fast — otherwise, an innocent person will die. But the only known cure is hidden in some creepy ruins — and the Reapers are sure to be waiting for me there …

Another Mythos book and more adventures and drama are heading to Gwen, but this time one thing I did not liked was the fact her grandmother is hiding some secrets until today, because come on Gwen life could depend on those things and pretty much everyone knows except her. Strange right, but now she knows her father was from a very dangerous family and once he wasn’’t such a good guy. Come one he was a Reaper. Me think the girl needs a few more lessons on family history.

But the book is not just about Gwen finding her family hoots. Now like always the Reapers are after her and for once Gwen discovered before the attack, but couldn’t alert Nickamedes and he was a casualty. But Gwen also discovered a way to save him, so off the troop went to find the secret ingredient. Am I the only one thinking that’s a trap? Apparently not because the group decided to try and even Logan returned.

Gwen being her usual self saved a few people on the way and now she just needs to save Nickamedes. Not everything is completely easy, but I liked the twists and turns this book provided. And Logan is back!!

Paranormal Review: Provoked by Rebecca Zanetti

Provoked (Dark Protectors, #5)

A TIME FOR WAR…
A casualty of the war between the demons and the vampires, Jase Kayrs has been missing for six long years. His older brothers want answers—but they’re going to have to get them from an unlikely source. For when Kane Kayrs tracks down Amber Freebird, what he finds is a blonde, vegan pacifist who has no intention of using her skills in his war…
A TIME FOR LOVE…
Amber enjoys her life of chaotic freedom and has no intention of falling in line just because a sexy-as-sin vampire insists on order. Unfortunately, he discovers she may be the only hope they have of finding his brother, and there’s no way he’s going to let her go—even if it means mating her to gain her cooperation. The two are as different as can be, yet when the dominant Kane and the untamed Amber finally unite to rescue Jase, they just may find that opposites really do attract…

Advice:

Due to its strong sexual content, this novel is recommended for readers older than 18.

I wanted more from Kane, don’t get me wrong there’s romance and action, but he’s such a genius that I wanted more difficulty for him. It was fairly easy to discover his mate and to actually consume the mating, but Amber made thing difficult afterwards.

Kane was after Jase for years and now the Kayrs family discovered a way to change the war. But I liked Amber and the way she made things different, she’s a vegetarian and changed Kane gradually.

It was a nice book, but the passion was bigger in the other couples and this felt a little to easy for me. Wanted more action from this book too. The rescue was a bit staged too.

Paranormal Review: Consumed by Rebecca Zanetti

Consumed (Dark Protectors, #4)

Sometimes You Mate For Life
Katie Smith is the best of her class, part of an elite hunting force trained to eliminate werewolves from the hills of Western Virginia. She’s good at it because she has the kind of focus and drive that won’t back down no matter how steep the odds. Call it southern sass. Whatever it is, there’s no denying her willingness to risk everything for the only man she’s ever cared about–a man on the verge of losing his very humanity. . .
Sometimes You Mate To Stay Alive
For the past ten years Jordan Pride has dedicated his life to protecting his people from a deadly shifter virus. But in a rare moment of distraction, Jordan’s guard drops just long enough for his fate to take an irreversible twist. Unless the woman he loves surrenders everything to him, again and again, under a full moon rising. . .

Advice:

Due to its strong sexual content, this novel is recommended for readers older than 18.

We met Katie since book one and I was expecting for her HEA, but the story took a turn for worst like always happens in this series and now I’m kinda worried about this couple.

Have now idea why shifters sometimes are afraid, because most of the times they listen to the inner animal, but Jordan didn’t wanted to mate with Katie before and now that her life is in danger, he’s all for the mating.

Don’t get me wrong they are perfect together and should had mated long before, but he had that “older than you” thing going on and now is almost too late.

I liked getting to know other shifters and the change in this series, because I got the felling this would be only about the Kayrs family, but the other couples are nice too and deserved a little book also.

Paranormal Review: Hunted by Rebecca Zanetti

Hunted (Dark Protectors, #3)

Ready Or Not
Moira Dunne is a witch—the quantum physics kind. Time and space are her playthings. Which might explain why her one-night stand from a hundred years ago has turned up to “claim” her—and request her family’s assistance with the war he’s brewing. But the more she learns about Connlan Kayrs, the more she comes to think this is normal behavior for him…
There’s Nowhere To Hide
When Conn and Moira tumbled on the moonlit grass, Conn hadn’t meant to mark her as his mate for all time. She was only twenty! But it wasn’t easy to wait for her. It was even harder to forget her. So when he finally returns for his wicked-hot witch, he’s ready to let the sparks flying. Even if he burns up in flames…

Advice:

Another brother to fall in love. And this time we already knew a little about their mating and the circuntancies were a bit difficult for these tow, but I loved Conn since the first book.

Moira was not my favorite, she spent one hundred years learning and the only thing that crosses her mind is how much Conn left her when she’s well aware of the reasons he left. She sound and acted like a child in this book. I expected more from her because she was already part of this world, but didn’t really loved her.

They are way to powerfull and I liked watching Conn kicking some ass, the guy is even good in magic. The couple is actually great together after Moira accepted their bonding.

Review: Crimson Frost by Jennifer Estep

Crimson Frost (Mythos Academy, #4)Title: Crimson Frost

For a moment, a face flashed before my eyes—the most hideous face I’d ever seen. No matter how hard I tried to forget what had happened, I saw him everywhere I went. It was Loki—the evil god that I’d helped set free against my will.

I should have known that my first official date with Logan Quinn was destined to end in disaster. If we’d gotten into a swordfight, or been ambushed by Reapers, I’d have been more prepared. But getting arrested mid-sip at the local coffee hangout? I didn’t see that one coming.

I’ve been accused of purposely helping the Reapers free Loki from his prison—and the person leading the charge against me is Linus Quinn, Logan’s dad. The worst part is that pretty much everyone at Mythos Academy thinks I’m guilty. If I’m going to get out of this mess alive, I’ll have to do it myself…

Photobucket

There’s a great part of me that just loves this series and I don’t know if it’s because of Gwen or the mythology, but each new book brings a new world full of mysteries to be solved and of course a battle to save the world.
I’m always expecting Gwen to save everyone and try for once to have a normal day without all this crazy attacks for the reapers. Some people might think it’s selfish of her to just want a normal outing with her new boo, but she’s just a teenager fighting the evil and trying to survive another day.
This book was different than the others, but mostly because now Loki is free and Gwen must discover what to do and actually kill him, not the simplest fact of them all. But I loved this book just as much as the others and there’s not a bad thing I could tell about it.
I don’t want to spoiler everyone, but Gwen is fighting with people’s thought and frustrated trying to discover Loki’s steps to control the world again. Not much!

I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.
Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?
It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

Photobucket

Things are getting more dangerous than ever in Mythos Academy and now Gwen must find an artifact her mother hide. An again it’s the only way to save the humanity from Loki, problem is she has no idea where it is and Loki’s champion is also looking and it’s probably inside the school.

Gwen’s life is not easy and Logan is almost her boyfriend, because now she has reasons to stay away from him. Reapers are popping up from everywhere and nobody is save, but Gwen is improving in her abilities and also learning how to fight better. Double yay.

But the book is all about action and death happens, but this one was really good for the series. It explained a lot about Gwen’s family and also helped understand a bit more of this war.

Can’t wait for the next because now the bad guy is out of the cage and Gwen is trying to save herself.

Summary

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart—the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword—with Logan’s help—I just might die by the sword…
My Thoughts
I think I finished this book faster than the first two. It was so great and the story was really evolving. Plus there are some parts that I can’t help but laugh. Gwen is growing up and now she has more friends than ever.
Gwen is now learning everything she can on how to fight. Logan is her tutor and that brought two new characters to the story. Oliver and Kenzie are both Spartans and great friends of Logan. At first they were just like all the other posh students making fun of Gwen, but once I discovered why they act that way it really good to understand more from them and they became allies, not going to say friends because it’s over the top.
Gwen and Logan relationship is worst than ever because now he’s dating Savannah and they are kissing every single minute Gwen looks at him. It’s horrible how he treats her just to hide a secret. But once the danger is greater that ever he actually helps and things became really steamy between these two.
Daphne is still crazy in love and her dating with Carson continues pretty good. It was fun to see how much she became more friendly and dangerous. She’s always helping Gwen plus she’s a Valkyrie and super strong, but on this book she was just a friend and didn’t got involved in the battle.
The book had more battles than the first and we got to see how difficult Gwen’s life will be now that she accepted her destiny and became a Champion. And after she got involved in Jasmine Ashton dead and discovered the whole family is on Loki’s side. Danger comes from everywhere and the academy is not that save anymore.

Quote

“Two students severely injured, you yourself covered in blood, a Reaper on the premises, a Fenrir wolf running around loose somewhere, and extensive property damage to the resort. Well?" Nickamedes snapped. "What do you have to say for yourself, Gwendolyn?"

I thought for a second, then grinned at him. "I followed your directions exactly. I never set one foot outside the hotel.”

Being a force of nature doesn’t keep you safe.
Hunter Garrity is used to watching his back. The kids at school sense something different about him. And they’re right.
Hunter has powers that have nothing to do with how hard he can throw a punch.
Maybe that’s what Clare Kasten is picking up. She’s shy, quiet, and intense, but she’s sought him out. There’s no telling what she wants from him.
But Hunter knows enough to sense a secret when it’s close. And getting close to Clare is a danger he’s ready to face…

Photobucket

Another short stories to help understand a little bit better the Merrick brothers and the other elemental people in this town, but this one was a bit different and I’m not so sure was the right choice at the moment.

At first it was okay to know more about Hunter, but it ended so suddenly that it got me thinking a full novel would be best and it would explain better his relationship with his family.

All I got was how disappointed he was to be left behind once again like a spoiled kid, knowing well enough how dangerous his father job was. But I liked his dad and he was right all along and it would be better to wait.

Clare story was not necessary and it left me thinking the author wanted us to think of Michael and Hunter as boys suffering for pretty little girls. Not god in my opinion, but I liked so much the novel in this series, that a couple novellas left me sad.

Summary

I am Gwen Frost, and I have a Gypsy gift.  It’s called psychometry – that’s a fancy way of saying that I see images in my head and get flashes of other people’s memories off almost everything I touch, even guys.

My gift makes me kind of nosy. Okay, okay, maybe a lot nosy–to the point of obsession sometimes. I want to know everything about everyone around me. But even I don’t want to know the secrets my friend Paige is hiding or the terrible loss that will send me to a new school – Mythos Academy, where the teachers aren’t preparing us for the SATs, but to battle Reapers of Chaos.  Now I have no friends and no idea how my gift fits in with all these warrior whiz kids.  The only thing I do know is that my life is never, ever going to be the same.  .  .

My Thoughts
This was another prequel, but I decided to read it after the first book because I usually get really confuse. They don’t explain much of the story and are short. But this one was different.
During the first book Gwen mentioned in passing what happened after gym in her old school and the prequel show us exactly this. What vibes se get and the memories she can extract from the hair brush that Paige let her borrow.
There’s also a visit to Mythos and Gwen first encounter with Logan. I don’t liked the way her grandmother just shipped her o school like it was a done deal. But I enjoyedd to know what happened before school started.
