This year I’ve read over 300 books but only 40 of them deserved the five start rating. Some of them took my breath away and I couldn’t stop thinking about the story long after finishing. I’ve managed to select ten out of that list, but it wasn’t easy.
1 – Divergent by Veronica Roth
This was my first book read this year and I fell right into Tris world. I finish this book so fast that my mind keep thinking about the fight and how would Tris find a way to actually change everything and make it all better. I do love a conspiracy and I believe it was this part of the book that actually got me hooked. I still haven’t read book two, Insurgent, but I definitely will in 2013. I believe this world would be great on the theater.
2 – Everneath by Brodi Ashton
I discovered this book participating in a challenge this year and it made me so happy to realize that beneath this pretty cover there’s actually a very dark and mysterious story that capture the mind and heart of people. I loved Nikki and how tormented she is by her choices and her reality. But I believe Cole is more than just a pretty and dangerous face and he will find a way to save her. I think he’s not so bad and maybe he’ll show his truth nature on book two, Everbound.
3 – Goddess Interrupted by Aimée Carter
I love mythology and this book made me remember all those beautiful and sometimes dangerous Greek stories. I fell in love with Kate and Henry on book one and this second made everything more real and dark for them. Plus we got to met Persephone, Henry’s first wife and a disturbing girl with a lot of problems. It was really interesting to see this new side of Kate since now she’s immortal , but is still adjusting to her new life and marriage.
4 – Last Breath by Rachel Caine
This is not the last book on the Morganville Vampires series, but I fell in love with this series on the very first book ad since them the author already released other two new adds to this world. This is my favorite of them all and it showed a different and mature side of all characters, but I love Claire and Myrnin, plus there’s a marriage to create. Just loved!! Amelie finally became a real bitch and showed her true colors.
5 – Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
This mermaid story was a lot of fun and a real interesting love story. I wasn’t expecting to add this one as a favorite but the ending was so good and really got me cheering for a HEA. This is actually my first book about mermaids and we actually have a prince, how cool is that? Galen is actually really nice and tried to help Emma to discover her past and handle her abilities on the water. That cover is just perfect and was the first thing that caught my eye.
6 – Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis
I do love a good romance and there’s nothing better than a Christmas themed book. This year I’ve read several new romances series and this one was my favorite so far. Jill Shalvis managed to create a tiny town with lots of respect and several great characters. Still need to read the rest of her series, but this one was absolutely perfect. Plus the cover is so romantic and clean.
7 – Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent
I decided to join a read-a-long for the Souls Screamers series this year and I discovered a great series. Kaylee is strong and helps everyone that needs, plus she discovered her powers in the first books but developed her strength and the way she handles all the craziness that appear in her High school. another great plus is Tod, he’s sweet and very charming, nothing I could possibly connect with a death person who collects souls. I can’t wait for the next book on this series, but unfortunely will be the last one and I’m going to have to say good bye to Kaylee.
8 – Biting Cold by Chloe Neill
I had a problem with the way Ethan died on the forth book in this series and it took me over an year to actually read the fifth, but luckily the sixth had already been released and I fell back in love with Merit adventures to save the world and stop humans from killing vampires. Plus Ethan is back and everything can be good again. Yay!
9 – Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I heard so many people talking about the awesomeness that Daemon is that I had to start and I regret every day that I let pass without reading it. So dig in and discovered that aliens are hot every where and a book blogger can find strange things right outside her door. I had fun reading the first book and a novella, but I fell in love in the second. Onyx is dangerous and dark and more steamy than Obsidian could ever be.
10 – Tangled Threads by Jennifer Estep
I fell in love with this series during another read-along, but this time I ‘m having such a hard time waiting to read the next book. Jennifer Estep created a magical and dangerous world were assassin, elements and everything can be found.
I just love Gin and her problems with relationships, family, jobs, revenge. Such a different character.
