If you could be any animal (real or mythical), what would it be, and why? Get creative here!

I personally love the story of the phoenix and resurrection. It’s so beautiful and the bird has an amazing color. So it’s pretty and famous.

In Greek mythology, a phoenix or phenix (Ancient Greek φοίνιξ phóinīx) is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor.

Do reviews often influence your book choices, or are you someone who doesn’t read reviews until after reading the book?

Sometimes they do, but lately I’ve been reading a lot of ARCs and some indie books, so there’s not much reviews to guide me, but I like to know what’s going to happen and a little spoiler is fine.

I like to know before I start the book if it’s something that I might enjoy so reviews usually help me set the pace of reading.

What are your New Year Resolutions? Or, what goals have you set for yourself in 2013.

I made two resolutions for next year. One is related to RL and the other blogger life. This year I became more connected with the blog and the amazing people I’ve met in this different universe, but I still need to talk more and really befriend these amazing people. Plus schedule things on advance, because this week was a difficult one and I didn’t had internet, but lucky me some of these post were already done and just waiting. I also need to write faster the reviews, because I always forget something important.

On my RL, I need to study hard and finish college. That simple, plus start teaching, peace of cake, but I haven’t decided what to do after college is over and I need to select an area of interest to try an PhD. That’s all for now.

Please share your favorite Holiday recipe. And if you don’t have one or cook, then go find one that sounds YUM-O! Feel free to include pictures.

I’m not a big fan of Christmas food, maybe it’s because for me desert is always better and the turkey is the big star in this holiday. I don’t cook much, so the photos and the recipe are from the web. My favorite dish is Panettone and I’ve ate already about 5 of them so far and christmas is only next week. I love the chocolate version better, of course!

Ingredients

Original recipe makes 1 loaf

  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)

  • 1/4 cup white sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup dried currants

  • 1/4 cup raisins

  • 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted(optional)

Directions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine yeast, water and sugar. Cover and let stand 10 minutes, or until foamy. Add eggs, yogurt, vanilla, lemon zest, and salt. Mix well. Stir in flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough forms into a manageable ball. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 to 10 minutes, adding flour as necessary, until dough is soft and pliable, but not sticky. (May need up to 5 cups flour.) Place dough in a large, lightly pan-sprayed bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and spray a round 8-inch cake pan with non-stick spray. In a small bowl, toss dried fruit with confectioners’ sugar. Punch down dough in bowl, transfer to floured surface, and knead in the fruit.
  3. Form dough into a ball, place in prepared cake pan, cover loosely with dish towel, and let rise 30 minutes. (Loaf will rise above the pan sides.) Brush with melted butter, if desired. Bake for 45 minutes, or until loaf is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Makes 10 wedges.

How many books do you own (keepers) and how many are in your to-be-read pile? Feel free to include pictures!

I’m not much of a reread kinda person, but since most of my books are in ebook format (about 98%) I never delete anything, so far is possible and my HD has a lot of space, according to Goodreads I have over 1300 books, between freebies and all sort of genres. I know my answer is pretty boring, but I prefer to buy ebooks because they are smaller and I can carry thousands on my tablet and it’s the fastest way for me to get a new release, since it take more than a month for BD and Amazon to deliver in my country, plus is much more expensive.

There a few series I used to kept closer to my heart and Harry Potter is very special, because it gave me a love of reading and it was the first book I read entirely in English, so this one is a keeper. I also love Rachel Vincent Soul Screamers series, I’ve met this different universe this year and it’s almost over, so in the future I’ll read them all again because Tod is so good.

This week I’m a little late because I forgot to schedule the questions for december, so my bad guys!!

Do you use “green” products? Do you recycle?  Please share your thoughts and resources on helping our planet live for future generations.

I use a lot of green products, especially in make up and papers. I don’t recycle much, only the occasional bottles and papers/magazines, because where I live is not a very functional recycle place and everything is mixed together, taking the recycle to no point.

I’m a biologist student I understand the definition and how necessary this is for the future and the present in some cities, but my state is not very good at it and it’s really difficult to fight the system on this.

End of the first month and the questions are getting trickier…

How much time do you think you spend on blogging each week, including commenting on other blogs, participating in events, Twitter/Facebook blog talk, etc? Do you have a time management system that works well for you? We’d love to know!

I have no idea how much time I spent on blogging, but at least 2 hours a day, I don’t have a time management or anything, but I try to visit other blogs and comment on memes and reviews.

I’ve been improving on twitter and Facebook, but it’s still difficult for me to spent huge amount of time on both of those. I need more time on twitter to know better other bloggers, but I’m getting there. It’s so much fun to make new friends.

I loved this week topic!

Do you have any hobbies other than blogging/reading? How do you balance them along with all of life’s other responsibilities? Feel free to share pictures.

I don’t take lots of pictures, but I love make up and follow lots of blogs about it too. Temptalia and Xsparkage are great to know what’s new on the world. One of my favorite brands is Mac and I spent a lot on lipstick and eyeliners.

Since this hobby is also one my sister adores, most of things she’s the one to buy, since I spent my money mostly on books. So I only buy lipsticks and several.

I’m loving this meme and how much fun is read everyone answer for the week question. It’s interesting to see a different side of the bloggers.

What are your thoughts on series? How many books in a series is too many? What authors do you think handle longer series well, as opposed to ones who seem to stretch it out less successfully?

This week is right up my alley, because I personally love a series and sometimes the first book is all about an introduction, but still very fun to dive in a different world and imagine what’s life for them. Is very difficult for me to read a stand alone, but a series I always devour.

I love a trilogy is the perfect amount of story, but the more the merrier. A few favorites:

  • Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon,
  • Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward,
  • Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent,
  • Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine,
  • The MacGregors by Nora Roberts,
  • Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa,
  • Goddess Test by Aimée Carter,
  • Shadow Falls by CC Hunter,
  • Rough Riders by Lorelei James,
  • Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout,
  • Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep,
  • Masters of the Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair,
  • Crossfire by Sylvia Day,
  • Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh,
  • Elemental Assassin by Jennifer Estep,
  • Black Knights Inc.by Julie Ann Walker

Okay this are definitely authors that can handle really well longer series, but there’s no way I can say anything bad about some authors, because if I don’t like a series I just stop reading, but that’s really difficult to happen and so far there’s only one on my list:

  • Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill

And I will read the last few books, but after the 5th I was a little afraid of the way things were progressing.

Another week has gone and the year is almost over now, but some great series are just popping in the TV and my hours of reading will be affected by my other addiction. So this week question is:

What TV shows are you most excited for this Fall/Winter, and why? Yes, we encourage the pimping of hot men on TV. There is certainly no shortage of that this season! (Thank you, Ashley/Bibliophile’s Corner!)

I love realities and music is also one of my favorites, so The X Factor and The Voice are my favorites. Simon Cowell is really good with words and Demi Lovato was a nice surprise as a judge.

For comedies I watch very little, so the list is short: The New Normal, Partners, The Neighbors. These alien are too funny!

The rest, since I watch pretty much every genre: The Mob Doctor (not that special and I don’t think is gonna last), Revolution (sounds like a dystopia book for grow ups with a lot of danger and a boring protagonist), Hawaii Five-0 (couldn’t let it pass), Last Resort (it started good but it sounds a bit strange now).

Guess that’s all for now!! I’m going to spend a long time in front of the TV.
